The Sounds of the Sixties
It has to be said, that the 1960’s was without a Doubt, the most exiting decade for music. With the birth of Rock n Roll only been a few years past and still very much in It’s Infancy. Then came the explosion of Pop in the United Kingdom between the Merseybeat sound of The Beatles with the Blues Rock sound of London with bands like The Rolling Stones and The Kinks, The decade was bouncing.
I’ve always found the Sixties to be One of the most transitional decades in regards to music, styles and attitudes. The beginning of the Sixties seeing Suits, Ties and shiny shoes with Short cut tidy hair, singing simple 12 bar songs. Through to the latter end of the decade where we see Long hair, Psychedelia and attitudes far more liberal than the more conservative attitude of society the beginning of the decade brought.
This Video here is a compilation of some great performances from the artists and groups of the Sixties. It also reflects what is known as the British invasion, and how the US replied via Motown, the Beach Boys, the Byrds and the Monkees. It shows us some really great performances with Eighty-Four different Top performances.
